The Tasty Travels of the Swanky Budgeteer.

Fashion Crazed Foodie Loves Music

I was born to love music.  I began my musical career at the age of 6, when my mother enrolled me in a local magnet/performing arts elementary school. From there, my love for music blossomed, and my career as a life-long musician began.  I started the violin at 6 yrs old, and then went on to love vocal music. I later attended The High School for Performing & Visual Arts as a vocal major.

#FashionCrazedFoodieFact Beyonce and I attended Elementary and High School together.

With the facts out of the way, I dedicate this page to all of my favorite music. I'm my own personal A&R, as I dedicate several hours each week to finding new artists and music, mostly independent.

Easygoing melodies, laced with smooth, honey-like vocals. No vocal gymnastics needed, no excessive riffs, and runs needed. Vocal ability, amorous melodies, powerful poeticism. I long for any assonance that moves me to dance, cry, or engage in a lover's rock....(with my hubby, of course).

My husband and I are known to drop everything hop on planes, or gas up the car for a quick road trip to see our favorite artists in concert.  We see all of our favorites when they come to town, (we've seen Erykah Badu 16 times, from NY to Dallas, to Houston). We saw Adele in concert her in Houston, and then hopped on a plane to see her a few weeks later in Philly. After hearing Gwen Bunn's music for the first time last year, my husband and I, at a moment's notice flew to Atlanta after only hearing about her show a few days in advance. We returned from the trip to Atlanta for Gwen Bunn's show, and hours later caught Big Freedia in Dallas.  I've seen The Roots in concert countless times, as well as one of my all-time favorites, The Mighty Mos Def, aka Yassin Bey. I could go on and on about our concert adventures, but I'll spare you for now.

  1. The bar staff at this place was professional and their drinks ensured us a fun night in the city. I can't wait to go back. Most of the negative elements of going to a more popular place are avoided here; the staff at event space Chicago was really mature and respectful.
