51fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails

Houston Galleria's Saks Fifth Avenue

Located on the second floor of Houston's newly renovated Saks Fifth Avenue is 51fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails, a swanky hideaway, featuring New American fare.

The space is undeniably posh; boasting gilded accents, mise–en–scène , and an overall super chic mid-century modern motif. 51fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails boasts a full bar, as well as a sprawling dining room, and a semi-private room.

#Fare

The menu, created by Chef Pedro Silva is "globally inspired and locally minded." The menu offers a wide range of New American fare, including steaks, soups and salads, seafood and sandwiches. The Crab Cake Maryland, Seared Pork Belly and The 51 Burger are my favorite items on the lunch and dinner menus. The Stuffed Bananas Foster French Toast is my husband's favorite of 51fifteen's brunch offerings.

The restaurant's bar touts a sumptuous variance of craft cocktails, for those on the hunt for swanky sips. I'd be hard-pressed if forced to name my top pick from the cocktail cart du jour, as I've tried a few and they were all divine! I definitely recommend trying the Silver Tequila Margatini-a splendid mélange of a margarita and a martini. The Lavender Peach Bellini/Martini is another one of my personal faves. You can't beat 51fifteen's $7 happy hour menu after a day of shopping!

#TheMoreYouKnow: The Blogger's Bloc Workshop

Blog Monetization + Branding + Social Media

Magnolia Hotel, Houston, TX
Arriving at The Magnolia Hotel for The Blogger's Bloc Workshop

I recently attended the Blogger's Bloc Workshop, presented by Crystal Knight, of Curl Life Radio. The workshop featured top bloggers, Rene Daniella, (@OwnbyFemme ) and  Sheela Goh. I'm totally appreciative of the enlightenment I acquired at The Blogger's Bloc Workshop, as I gained insight on  the essentials of monetizing my blog, insider tips on optimizing my brand message via social media, and ideas on further developing my brand through social media. Most importantly, I left feeling encouraged, and motivated by my blogging peers. Crystal Knight did an exceptional job executing the workshop, ensuring that each attendant was well-informed. Rene' Daniella, friendly, and forthcoming, instructed us on the ins and outs of garnering brand sponsorships via social media, pitching to brands, and more.

#TheMoreYouKnow: As a blogger of 10 years, (time flies when you're having fun), I understand that my success depends on my willingness to learn and evolve.

All smiles with Rene Daniella, +OwnByFemme.TV

In addition to sharing critical information, Crystal Knight also gave attendees the opportunity to be featured on Curl Life Radio, her natural hair care podcast, with topics that range from the hair, to pop culture. I jumped at the chance, more than happy to dish on hot topics. Listen HERE.

FashionCrazedFoodie's Super Bowl Style Guide

What I’m Wearing + Where I’m Going

Super-Bowl-Style-Guide

As we all know by now, Houston is the hosting Super Bowl LI! Exciting, right? I’m proud of my hometown, and ready to get in on (almost) all of the action.

It’s taken me weeks to filter through emails filled with press/media invites to Super Bowl related events from local restaurants and chefs, fashion shows, pop-up shopping parties, luncheons, parties and much more. I’m thrilled to share my personal Super Bowl Style Guide, a detailed list of what I'm wearing, to where I'm going.

WHERE I’M GOING

Flyer: Instagram, +fashionbombdaily.com

First up, Claire Sulmers (THE blogger Goddess, in my book), brings Fashion Bomb Daily  to Houston! Claire is scheduled to appear at Saks Fifth Avenue at the Houston Galleria, tomorrow, (Thursday)  Feb. 2, from 2pm-4pm. As a blogger, I admire Claire and the success of her blog. I’ve followed her career from the beginning, and I’m inspired by her work. In addition to this event, I plan to visit their in-house restaurant, 51fifteen for brunch on Saturday, and to enjoy the Jazz sounds of The Bob Morgan Duo. I had the pleasure of visiting 51fifteen two weeks ago with my The Houston Food Blogger Collective to try their globally inspired menu. The delectable fare is locally sourced, which I love. My favorite? The 51 Burger and Shrimp Risotto. The libations are innovative and enjoyable. Grabbing cocktails 51fifteen Super Bowl Weekend? I suggest Silver Tequila Margatini-my absolute FAVE! More on my visit to 51fifteen in an upcoming blog post.

WHAT TO WEAR

I suggest a fashion forward look for your visit to Saks Fifth Avenue. Easy Elegance is in, so I recommend a long, flowy kimono, or this season’s easygoing trend, a pajama robe coat. Pair your kimono or the aforementioned pajama robe coat with a chic, understated top (preferably, a bodysuit) and an ankle length pants or be adventurous and amplify the look with high-waisted, wide leg pants. Finish the look with a pair of chromatic heels.
WHERE I’M GOING

Thursday will be a busy day for me, as I am also heading to Discovery Green for the
Super Bowl Live Event, featuring Solange, Robert Glasper (a talented friend & high-school classmate), Lizzo and Ingrid.

WHAT TO WEAR

Super-Bowl-Style-Guide

For this event, I plan to sport a casual look, as I expect large crowds and lots of walking. I love putting together casual-cute ensembles for myself, as this is my go-to look. Who says a girl can’t be comfy cute?! I have to be able to vibe comfortably to the consciously euphonious sounds of A Seat at the Table, and to dance effortlessly to Lizzo. Therefore, my look is sure to center around my shoes. I suggest a trusty pair of time-honored Converse Classic Chucks, or any tennis shoes that you deem relaxed enough to withstand all of the walking and dancing you’re sure to do. I’ll most likely complement my Chucks with black leggings and a retro tee. I’ll tie a sweatshirt around my waist for added style, and just in case the weather turns cool. I’ll carry my FAVORITE bag, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Knapsack, because it’s durable, yet stylish; not to mention it’s the perfect size.

WHERE I’M GOING

Good Vibes Only HTX Block Party, Ft. Wale, Super Bowl Edition. Saturday, February 4,
4 pm-11:30, at Alley Kat ( 3718 Main St., Houston, TX 77002)
I’m super passionate about this event, as I’m a regular at the Alley Kat and the #GoodVibesOnly HTX parties are always, ALWAYS a good time! The thing I love most about their parties is that there is no dress code. Artists party here, so everyone’s is dope and cultured.

WHAT TO WEAR

Super Bowl Style Guide

I look forward to sporting my “So Syretta” style for this party; my signature look. I strongly suggest you leave your heels at home for this party. I can see myself in some tried & true cutoffs, a loose, and a trendy, flowing top OR an easy-going denim jumpsuit or romper, (think, Free People). I'll accessorize the look with my usual armful of bangles, and to stay #ontrend, rings on almost every finger.

Most importantly, I want you to beYOUtiful and wear what most matches your style! Be safe, and have fun, here, in Houston for Super Bowl LI.  I’d love to see you out and about!. If you see me out, by all means, come speak, take a selfie, dance, or whatever! Let’s enjoy Super Bowl  weekend together!
