Fashion Rocks at Macy's with Nick Verreos

Nick Verreos

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the #FashionRocks Fall Fashion Show at Macy's hosted by Nick Verreos! (I love him!)

Nick Verreos, of Project Runway fame, graced the stage, and captivated the audience, keeping us entertained, and informed on the trends for Fall 2014.

The runway looks were presented by celeb-style personality; J. Lo's style closet, Katy Perry's, Gwen Stefani's and Beyonce's style closets. The looks were pulled from brands including, but not limited to: INC, BCBG, and Michael Kors. Each look was very well put-together, and an awesome representation of each celeb's style.

.....and now for my FAVORITE part of the entire event: I was picked via random drawing for an one-on-on style consultation with Nick Verreos! YESSSS!!

Upon pulling my name, he called me on stage, greeted me with a warm hug, took one look at me, and stated that I did NOT need a style consultation or makeover. He loved my style, and my overall look. He said that I had a unique style, and that he likes it! Yay, me! We spent our time together laughing, and talking about fashion, and other things. We both agreed that we loved the white BCBG caplet I'm wearing in the first picture down below.

I also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Nick's mother. We sat next to one another during the show. Upon hearing that I recently graduated with a degree in Consumer Science (Fashion Merchandising) she encouraged me to follow my passion, no matter what happens. She shared stories, and words of encouragement with me that I will never forget, and that I will be sure to share with my 4 year-old daughter, Noa. Noa loves to design, make patterns and sew. Nick's mother told me that she purchased his first sewing machine when he was about 8 years old!

Tapped In..

It's no secret, I like beer. I created this blog to share my love for food, fashion, and travel. From here, the blog will feature a food and beverage tab where I will share reviews and insight on food, etc. Today, I will give you insight on my favorite malted beverages.

Last week, I won two VIP passes to the Untapped Fest, here in Houston. The Untapped Fest is a craft beer and music festival featuring local bands, and 200 plus craft beers from more than 65 breweries. My husband and I had an amazing time going from booth to booth trying beers that we may have never thought to try otherwise. My husband likes trying beer from local breweries, so he had the chance to speak with the representatives, and gain even more insight on a few that are located rather close to us. We have a few brewery tours in our near future.

The fact that I enjoy beer actually surprises me. I spent years baffled by the fact that anyone could actually enjoy something so bitter, and unpleasant. One day, on a whim, I decided to try Dos Equis. The combination of the added salt, and lime actually made the beer enjoyable. From there, I tried, and liked another cerveza, Tecate'. Tecate' is also known to be paired with salt, and lime, however, I take things a step further by turning a Tecate' into a Michelada!! Aayyee!!
(see below for my step-by-step Michelada guide)
Made by me, posted on my Instagram Page. #Michelada

There are several variations, as everyone has their own way of doing things, and I love trying different mixtures. Any restaurant offering Micheladas on their menu holds the key to my heart.

HARD CIDER

The only "beer" I love more than a thirst-quenching cerveza is hard cider. The sweet, mouth-puckering twin to your average beer, hard cider is fermented apple goodness. Most beer brands make and distribute their own version of hard cider, but my absolute favorite is Angry Orchard.
I can't decide which of their ciders I love the most, as they offer a tasty assortment:
Crisp Apple, Green Apple, Apple Ginger (seasonal), Traditional Dry (seasonal),  and the Cider House Collection (seasonal).

My adoration of hard cider doesn't stop there, as I'm also a fan of Stella Artois Cidre. I especially like this particular cider on draft. Nothing like an icy pint to accompany a delicious meal.

During my visit to the Untapped Fest, I ran across a brand that I had never tried before,  Wood Chuck Hard Cider.  I was a little hesitant to try once I heard what they were offering, but thankfully, my curiosity got the best of me. I decided to pass on the Wood Chuck Pumpkin Cider, and try the Wood Chuck Fall Harvest. #Yummers! This cider turned out to be my favorite of the night. I actually visited their booth 4 times! I couldn't help myself. The taste of their Fall Harvest Cider reminds me of Thanksgiving, and all the sweet spices that come along with the fall season. My tastebuds are spot on,   as the description I found of the Fall Harvest Cider on the Wood Chuck webpage matches my thoughts on the taste:

"This cider has a complex and elegant character full of apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg balanced out with a hint of American White Oak. A true taste of the season."

Now that I've shared my favorites with you, I'd love to know yours. Contact me here, or on any of my social media pages, to share your favorite beer or cider. If your suggestion is one that I have yet to try, I will try it, and let you know what I think about it.
